My Approach

I am a gestalt psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer.
I am a committed yoga and movement practitioner - a somanot. I have a steadily growing zen meditation practice.

About Me

For the last decade or so I was part of the Edinburgh Gestalt Institute's (EGI) training and leadership team. I now co-run a therapy, practice space with my friend and colleague. We are slowly growing a community of practitioners who are dedicated to working with people in the area of growth and development. You can find out more about this at www.dialogueandspace.co.uk

I am enjoying a slower pace in my life post EGI. Having completed a yoga training with Yoga Health Mandala, in India, just before the pandemic, I am integrating, deep dive movement into my psychotherapy work. I am dedicated to my own journeying and development and bring my personal discoveries to my client, training and supervisory work.
Alongside my movement practice I am increasingly finding a solid home in my zen meditation practice and working with 'life as it is'.
These practices don't take away the ordinary ups and downs of life but I am finding that more feels possible and that I have more space and freedom in my living, relationships and responses.

If you are interested in working with me I ask that you bring your curiosity, so that together, we can discover where you might be stuck in old, archaic, patterns and structures that no longer serve you.
I believe passionately in the possibility of growth and transformation via relationship and increased awareness.

I love the writing's of James Hollis, Carl Jung, Pema Chodron, James Baldwin and Marcus Aurelius, to name but a few. Mary Oliver's poetry reminds me to always connect with the natural living world.

I love swimming in the sea, particularly in the middle of winter.

'Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know' Pema Chodron

'It is a serious thing // just to be alive / on this fresh morning / in this broken world.'

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have worked extensively with all aspects of abuse (sexual, physical and emotional).
I am interested in addiction as a creative adaptation to early trauma/neglect
I am interested in issues connected with identity, place and belonging
I am particularly interested in transitions. Young adult - parenthood, mid-life, ageing parents, empty nest, finding meaning in mid-life, older age and dying.
