You can unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders and let out a long exhale. Therapy is your space to come exactly as you are and how you need to be.
Clients have said I’m warm, supportive, and easy talk to. I’ll not shy from using humour together to share a deep belly laugh if it’s appropriate. I am about as far away as you can get from any stereotyped notion of an aloof, detached, and blank-faced therapist. That’s not to say I won’t be straight-talking (a nod to my American upbringing). I also won’t sit in your session and take excessive notes staring at a note pad, while saying ‘uh huh’ over and over again while glancing at the clock.
You are always invited to bring a cup of tea to your online session and I will encourage you to make yourself as comfortable as possible in your own space (yes, even if it means your snuggly dog is in the room while you also sport your favourite well-worn slippers).
Anything that needs addressing in our sessions won’t be sugar coated, but I will always speak to you with kindness, compassion and respect. I care deeply for my clients and this will hopefully be apparent as our therapeutic relationship deepens over time in your sessions.
Therapy with me celebrates all the differences that make you unique– wether you identify as Neurodivergent or as part of the LGBTQIA+ community, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and 2SLGBTQIA+ intersections (QTBIPOC), Disabled Communities of Colour (or all of the above).
As a Relational Transactional Analysis I believe our relationship is the place where we can explore how unhelpful patterns can be brought to light in the safety of the therapy space. We work to bring the unconscious to conscious.
As an inclusive therapist, I celebrate the strengths the needs of people with marginalised identities. My psychotherapy practice boldly strives to be: anti-oppressive, anti-discriminatory, anti-stigma, anti-racist and anti-ableist.
However you choose to express and identify yourself in this world, you are welcome here.
My therapy space is online via Zoom, or you can attend in person ( I am located in TR4 between Truro and Falmouth). Onsite parking, and a lovely quiet setting full of trees, birdsong and a babbling brook.
Hello, I am Jessica.
Does any of this sound familiar?
Your life feels heavy. You’ve spent months— maybe even years feeling ‘off’ and you’re ready to get to the bottom it.
You’ve done everything you were ‘supposed to do’ to ‘make it’, only to realise you’re still feeling unfulfilled, dissatisfied and empty
You’re struggling to process painful past experiences and you’re ready to move forward with healing and clarity
Therapy with me is a place where you can let go of the masks you wear as a high functioning artist and explore what it means to be fully human.
My advanced training Transactional Analysis (TA) Psychotherapy and effective treatment planning means that I have the experience you need and deserve when healing from your past. Alongside my work in psychotherapy, I have been working in the music industry for 30+ years as a professional performer, academic and educator.
There is no one size fits all type of client that comes to see me, however I tend to see a lot of persons in the creative arts, high-flying type A-s, and people going through huge transitions (motherhood, fatherhood, divorce, death, menopause, just to name a few). As an expat myself (shout out to my American roots!), I also tend to see a lot of people who have lived abroad, or have immigrated to the UK.
Your diverse story is welcome here. Bring all of yourself, no edits needed– even the parts that are feeling sticky, frayed or hidden. My journey, too, is a mosaic of distinct identities (Latina, female, expat, mother, daughter, sister, therapist, musician, teacher) and I fully bring all parts of my self in this space. Every piece, every shadow and light have a place in our work together, alongside all the other vibrant pieces that make you, you.
