My Approach

As a person-centred psychotherapist, I work with the entirety that is you. You know what hurts and what you need to talk about and I trust that you will bring this to our work when you're ready.

I have:
- helped people find the words that express their feelings
- supported people to make sense of their experience, for example after a diagnosis, a sudden death, a long term illness
- helped individuals work through the deep sadness that comes with losing someone close to them
- helped people work through painful emotions
- sat with people as they explore guilt
- accompanied individuals as they have made sense of their life

I role is to be your partner in this journey. Together we will find a way through this difficult time.

About Me

Are you feeling anxious, questioning who you are; why you do the things you do?  Are you worried about how your behaviour is impacting your relationships, but you feel you cannot break these patterns?

Are you finding that some childhood/past memories keep popping into your head?  Are you questioning how you feel about them and how they may have impacted you?

Are you yearning for love and acceptance, but find you push people away?  Are you worried that you if you don't find a way to feel better about yourself that you'll go on hurting not only you but also those you love most?

I understand how very hard it is for you as you struggle to change despite wanting so much to be the best version of you.  I understand the shame, guilt,  and the terrible feelings of remorse you have when you’ve “fallen off the wagon, done it again, had a blow-out” – you know the phrases that speak to you.

It is possible that as a child you were exposed to problematic behaviours that have led you to bottle up your feelings only to find yourself exploding when you can’t keep them in any longer.

Through my own experience of ADHD, I have learnt that neurodivergence influences how our brains work and respond to experiences, and I bring that understanding to help you unravel any impact of neurodivergence in your own life.  It also enables me to be very sensitive to your needs.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Sometimes because we have lived our lives the way we have, we don't always recognise that some of it my have impacted you in ways that might be considered abusive. if it is your lived experience you may not know any different but what you know is that something about it doesn't feel right and it makes you question it.
Are you wondering if you might be ADHD and/or autistic, are thinking about getting a diagnosis but worry about the implications? Commencing a neurodivergence journey can be quite daunting but let's explore your feelings around it.
You may received a diagnosis of a mental health condition and want to understand what that means for you and your lived experience. Life is complex and you may need a space to process how this feels for you and what led to you receiving this diagnosis so you can make sense of it all.
Every interaction we have with the people around us is a form of a relationship. Are you the person who gives more to others than you receive in your relationships? Are you finding that you feel hurt by those around you? When we start to understand ourselves better, we can then look at how we manage ourselves in our relationships. Although this may sound easy it can be hard to let go of our strong beliefs and allow ourselves the space to consider being a different way in relationship. Let's talk through what happens for you and work out how to improve your relationship experiences.
Feeling the trauma of a lived experience may be hitting you hard and finding the space to work through it can be so beneficial. I have worked with people who have been bereaved through suicide, manslaughter, road crashes, and sudden death; people have childhood experiences of living with alcoholism, drug usage and anger, and children of divorced parents.
