I believe that counselling can give you the space to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions, and the clarity to make any changes you may feel you need.
I have a special interest in working with clients who have experienced trauma from my experience as a rape and sexual abuse counsellor. I understand the coping mechanisms that many people adopt after traumatic events, that may have helped protect you at the time.
These can include alcohol abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, low self-esteem, poor sleeping patterns, intimacy issues, feelings of shame, flashbacks and dissociation.
I can give you the time and space to safely talk about, and come to terms with, any of your emotional issues. Once you realise the influence that these coping mechanisms may hold over you, you can work towards taking control of them, and as a result find the way to empower yourself.
I work with clients on a long or short term basis depending on your needs.
I am an experienced and qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, and I run my private practice from a comfortable and safe room in my home in Crowthorne, Berkshire.
As a humanistic therapist, I use different ways of working with you depending on your needs. My focus however is always on our therapeutic relationship, as I believe this is the most important factor to enable change to happen in a safe and trusting environment.
I also have several years experience working as a counsellor in an agency for survivors of rape and sexual abuse. I work with compassion and empathy, always holding my client's safety in mind. I have a deep and empathic understanding of the impact that this type of trauma can hold on an adult now. I can support you whether you experienced childhood abuse, or abuse as an adult.
I am passionate about my work, and as a registered member of the UKCP, you can feel safe in knowing that I offer a confidential and professional service.
