My Approach

Dramatherapy and psychodrama psychotherapy

About Me

I am a state registered drama-therapist and a psychodrama psychotherapist. I have previously worked in Education for 11 years as a Counsellor/psychotfherapist. I have been a lecturer on an integrative MSc in counselling at The University of Nottingham

I have been in private practice for over 10 years delivering both individual and group work. I have worked in many settings in education, health and social care/work settings I work with professionals, families, young offenders, traumatised young people.

I have a specialism in working with looked after children and their families and I have a firm grounding in attachment theory. I have a systemic, dynamic and creative approach to my practice.

I love the work and enjoy getting to know each person I work with, I strive to work alongside people with compassion, creativity and warm curiosity. I believe we each have a unique process and way of dealing with our past and present, sometimes this requires deeper understanding so that we can make choices about how we want to live our lives now and in the future.

I offer a free 15 min phone consultation prior to any sessions to give you an opportunity to tell me what you want and for you to find out if my approach would work for you.

  • Companies
  • Couples
  • Families
  • Groups

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have worked in the field of looked after children for 15 years and have trained in attachment based psychotherapy. I enjoy working with children and families to support the parent, child and sibling relationships to their full potential. I also have a great deal experience of working using a dyadic, developmental approach.
I have worked in several specialist schools for children with ASD and find that my creative and playful methods of engagement work really well with individuals with this diagnosis.
I work using psychodramatic techniques to support clearer understanding of relational dynamics. This may be in couples and/or family work, it can also be used in conflict management in the workplace or at school. I work with both groups and couples to effect positive moves in relational ability. I really enjoy finding out, alongside my clients, how they perceive relationships, how this can sometimes be coloured by past relationships and ways of interpreting another, to find new understandings of behaviour motivation and communication.
