I am a systemic psychotherapist, which means that I am interested in the influence of people’s wider contexts, their histories and their relationships and how this is impacting on the ways in which they are experiencing the world. I take the view that the person is not the problem, rather the problem is the problem, so I will work alongside you in a non-judgemental way, to explore your dilemmas, develop new meanings and understandings, and help you to find a new way forward.
I believe that you are the expert of your own life, so I will never tell you what to do, but rather will help you think through options around change and enable you to choose your own way forward. I seek to find an approach that is a fit for clients, so I aim to be as flexible as possible in terms of planning sessions and in deciding the frequency and longevity of the work.
I am a qualified Family and Systemic Psychotherapist with 9 years of experience working alongside children, young people and families, to make changes to their lives (since 2015). I have worked with families and individuals facing an array of dilemmas, from family breakdown, couple separation, managing loss, anxiety and low mood, intimate partner violence, child to parent violence, child abuse and neglect. I have worked in high risk contexts in Children’s Social Care and the private sector.
I am also a qualified Social Worker and have experience providing clinical supervision to social workers and systemic practitioners. I also have extensive experience offering training to social workers, systemic practitioners and foster carers.
