We’ll start where you are, talk about what’s been happening in your life and how that’s affecting you and your relationships. Together we’ll explore your feelings, beliefs and behaviours to gain a greater understanding of you and your relationships to those around you.
You may be aware of self-destructive patterns which cause you, or those around you, pain. Extreme feelings such as anger, shame, guilt, sadness or loneliness may be affecting your daily life, keeping you stuck in an uncomfortable place. Counselling can help you navigate these feelings.
We may look at your family of origin, your childhood, belief systems, cultural influences, and significant events that have occurred in your life.
I believe in the whole person, body, mind, feelings, working with you to explore all issues you bring to counselling, with no limits on what can be discussed.
My primary aim is to create an environment that is inclusive, confidential, safe and non-judgemental to support you to better understand yourself, and to work toward desired change. We’ll start where you are, talk about what’s been happening in your life and how that’s affecting you and your relationships.
Sessions are one-to-one, in person or online
I see clients once a week, for sessions of fifty minutes.
Usually, we’ll have a regular slot, at the same time each week. Once you have your slot, I will be holding that time open for you until we both agree that our work is finished.
I worked for many years in the property business, and in design, training as a psychotherapeutic counsellor later in life to align my personal values with my career. I believe that everyone has the potential to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life.
There are many reasons why people seek counselling, each is different, with their own unique circumstances and problems. Opening up to someone about the intimate details of your life can feel daunting and vulnerable.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on techniques from different types of therapy to tailor an approach specifically for you. My focus is on you, and I care deeply about the relationship we establish together. I believe the therapeutic relationship is essential to the success of your experience.
When life gets tough counselling can be a safe place to let your feelings out and share what’s on your mind. It can be a relief to talk about something that has been upsetting you with someone who understands and really listens without judgement.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
