My Approach

The power of Integrative Counselling is that my approach to working with you will be as unique as you. There is no one size fits all when it comes to your personal experience and mental health.

Together, we work out what suits you best. Whether exploring and adjusting behaviours or exploring the past and how it now influences the present. Whether we focus on the bigger than us thoughts of life or re-connecting to our body and using breath to help regulate and ground. We could delve into the unconscious or stay present in the now, or a combination of them all. There are many ways of working to help uncover the root of our problems, which in turn can provide much freedom.

About Me

I am a fully qualified, insured and experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in the heart of Norwich.

Being a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor means the relationship we develop together is key for the work. I am committed to be alongside you on this ride as we use the mind, the body and the bigger than us parts of existence to explore what is behind you seeking counselling.

Before training as a Counsellor, I was a teacher for many years, specialising in Music Technology and working with students with Special Educational Needs and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties. I have personal and professional experience in mental health spanning over 20 years.

Alongside private practice I also work as a Therapeutic clinician with Attune (we-are-attune.com) focusing on supporting the mental health of professionals in the entertainment industry.
I am a registered practitioner with BAPAM (bapam.org.uk) providing therapeutic support for individuals in the creative industry.
And I am a registered counsellor with Sporting chance (sportingchanceclinic.com) providing mental health support for professional sportspeople.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I work with many clients with or in the process of an ADHD diagnosis. I appreciate the difficulty navigating a diagnosis can be, and feel using therapy to navigate these difficulties can be very beneficial. I am always open to exploring the potential reasons why, remaining curious to the effect developmental trauma or ACEs may have contributed.
I have personal and professional experience navigating and understanding anxiety. I believe anxiety itself is a message and at some point in time, the origin of this message was lost leaving behind the physical and mental symptoms we define as anxiety. Using the safety of our relationship, I can provide ways to regulate and manage, whilst we explore and reconnect with the original message, which in itself can provide much relief, control and freedom from these symptoms.
I work from a quiet and private space in Norwich. I’m more than happy to try and accommodate any particular requirements to make sure the working environment suits you and your needs. Similarly to the approach with ADHD, using our relationship to explore your experience, whilst exploring regulation techniques, can help us see behind the mask.
Similar to working with anxiety, understanding what the message is behind the depression and locating its origin can allow us to make changes and remove ourselves from the stuck-ness.
It is through relationship we develop our sense of self, our identity and who we are in the world. It is also through relationship this understanding of our self can be challenged or changed. By establishing and using our relationship, we can safely explore the relational difficulties you may be challenged with and how this may be having an impact on your sense of self.
