My Approach

My approach is warm and compassionate and comes from a deep respect for individuals, couples and families. I acknowledge the difficulties life can challenge us with and have an inquisitive, non-judgmental, approach that believes that problems arise and dissolve in our interaction and relationship with each other and the world around us.
I am author of 'The Heart of the Matter: Music and Art in Family Therapy' (Routledge 2018) and have researched the use of creative media to help the therapy process when words get stuck.

About Me

Hello, I am Family & Systemic Psychotherapist with 25 years experience. I work with individuals ( both children and adults), couples, young people and their families, families with grown up children and organisations.
I have a doctorate in systemic psychotherapy, am a lead consultant for the NHS and run a private practice from my home in South Oxfordshire. I also offer online sessions and home visits. I am very happy to take phone inquiries and offer a free consultation service so we can have a chat before you commit to paying any fees.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

As someone who was bought up in a family with an adopted sibling, I have always held a special interest in helping families through the adoptive process and all it entails for every family member.
Bereavement can leave a flux of emotions and experiences for individuals and families. My work allows for these differences, helping people to carry on when it feels impossible and creating resolution and peace when things are fraught.
As family therapists we believe in always seeing an individual in the context of their relationships. This helps us to ask the right questions to bring about insight and change. It is a non-blaming and collaborative form of therapy in which issues of culture in its myriad forms, as well personal experience and your unique contexts, are explored to help create the differences and changes you wish to make.
Family & Systemic psychotherapists believe that problems arise and dissolve in the dynamic and interactive space between people. This in turn is affected by multiple contexts including personal and social narratives. I welcome people who wish to improve their relationship with any significant other or others to begin this exploration together in a safe and non-judgemental space.
I am a registered supervisor through AFT and offer a safe, reflexive space for clinicians to think through their clinical challenges and dilemmas, consider the segue of personal and professional responses and find fresh ideas, renewed energy and insight in their work.
