About Me

My name is Helein and I am a relational transactional analyst and relational psychotherapist in private practice in Arundel, West Sussex and London. I have over five years experience working in various mental health services in the UK and have been in private practice since 2020.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I am an experienced addiction psychotherapist, and work with all types of addictions whether that be substance misuse (alcohol / street/prescription drugs, over the counter medication, food) or process addiction (love/gambling/shopping/internet). It is not easy to stop an addiction or habit that you have become dependent on. Rather than focus on the 'how to stop' or 'give up', I will help you understand your 'why'. Why are you addicted? Why are you unable to stop? We will focus on the underlying pain rather than the addiction itself. I also work with those who are living with others' active addictions.
I am dyslexic and AuD(H)D and understand how a neuro-divergent diagnosis (whether formally or self) can impact your self-esteem, self-worth and confidence especially if diagnosed later in life. Being neuro-divergent can bring an extra layer of confusion around self, for example through masking and thinking differently from the usual (or neuro-typical) person.
As an adoptee, you may be grappling with complex emotions or facing challenges in understanding your identity because of missing pieces in your life story, speaking to a psychotherapist such as myself who has specialised training in the field of adoption, may be of benefit.
