My approach is psychodynamic which means the work we do together will explore your past as a way of understanding how you may be feeling now. Some of your past experiences may be clear in your memory whilst others may not be. Some of our most formative experiences happen in our early years and are often not clearly remembered and yet they can play a significant role in the way we experience the world, our relationships and ourselves.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy can therefore bring clarity and understanding to feelings you are encountering that seem to have no obvious cause, such as anxiety, depression, low self esteem, anger or emotional numbness, for example. Working together, we will build a clearer picture of your life experiences and the patterns in your behaviours, expectations and relationships. With a greater understanding of yourself, comes the chance to connect and communicate more authentically with yourself and others.
I am a qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist based in Borough. I provide a safe and private space in which you can talk about your experiences and the feelings that may be concerning you. Starting therapy can be daunting and you may have questions about what it might entail - I offer a 10-15 minute phone call free of charge to get the conversation started. You are welcome to get in touch via email to arrange an initial call and I endeavour to respond to all enquiry emails within 1-2 working days.
I have previously practised at WPF Therapy and now work in private practice. I have completed a five year training and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice accredited by the University of Roehampton and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a member of the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC).
