I was trained as a Transactional Analyst . However, because my background was a Psychology Lecturer I sometimes use other modalities and styles in my work and practice as appropraite to the client.
I am is a fully qualified and experienced Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. My approach is to focus on how you have come to feel the way you do both outside of our relationship and by also looking what happens when we work together. My psychotherapy practice offers you a safe space to explore the problems you may be experiencing and supporting you to develop an awareness of how the past may be impacting on your life, building an awareness and insight. I can support your ability to choose different ways of being in the world and relating to yourself and to others. Together in therapy, we could explore different tools and skills to help you make changes –if that is what you decide to do. I also have worked with people undergoing transitions in life, such as redundancy, retirement, change of health status or changes in family makeup such as divorce, bereavement and loss. I feel that change can be transformative in both a positive and negative way, and we can work together with the difficulties that you may be managing at this time.
I have many years experience as a lecturer/examiner and also work with students of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have had many years experience supporting those who are studying and are having some difficulty with focusing and procrastination.
I also work with people in the music industry and sometimes ask clients to select music pieces to help clients describe what they are feeling when words cannot.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
