Psychodynamic thinking is at the heart of my practice. This means the therapy seeks to get to the root of the problem rather than focus on surface symptoms. It involves exploring early experiences and developing a better understanding of unconscious motivations and repetitive patterns of relating.
My approach is shaped according to each individual's specific concerns, aims and unique situation. I offer a space to be understood and to explore different aspects of yourself with a view to gaining insights and achieving desired changes.
Talking to a therapist in a safe and confidential space may allow a deeper understanding of yourself and how you relate to others and with the outside world. Therapy provides the opportunity to make sense of difficult experiences and feelings or persisting anxieties. This often brings hope, relief and some clarity. The process usually begins with one or more initial consultation meetings where we can gather a sense of what it is like to work together, and decide about on-going therapy and weekly fees. I also offer a few reduced fee places. You can contact me for a brief chat beforehand with no obligation to attend.
Alongside my private practice in North West London, I work as an Adult Psychotherapist in an NHS Psychodynamic Psychotherapy service. I bring significant experience from my work within the NHS, where I have worked with adults with a wide range of difficulties in different clinical settings. I have also worked with university students and young adults in the charitable and 3rd party sector.
My clinical interests include complex trauma, family and relationship issues and the intertwining of mental and physical health. I am passionate about making therapy more accessible and relevant across all social, cultural, economic backgrounds and across different presentations. My training was at the University of Oxford; where I completed the 4 year Masters in Psychodynamic Practice programme with distinction. I am accredited as a psychodynamic psychotherapist with the BPC and also accredited with the UKCP and a registered member of the BACP. I practice within the ethical framework and good practice guidelines of these organisations
