If you are not sure, I would encourage you to give therapy a chance. We live in such a busy world, it can be difficult to hear ourselves think. Therapy gives you space. A safe one. A space in which you can explore and unfold securely, accompanied by someone who cares, is professional and holds wisdom and respect for your therapeutic process. As a psychotherapist, I emphasise this ‘safe container’ a secure, non-judgmental environment as the important first step. From there, I am hard working and honest and will do my best to support you with whatever's going on for you right now, supporting you to find your voice, to tell your story.
Author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie described ‘the danger of a single story’. As a white, heterosexual woman, who was raised Catholic, I appreciate that I have experienced some ease and privilege. I hope and consider myself to be sensitive to diversity, privilege, to the words, to the many stories. I am also sensitive to grief in its many forms.
As a gestalt psychotherapist there is a look to the East, philosophies such as Taoism, Buddhism, the acceptance of what is and from there, being with in the here and now underlie the way I work. I find these ideas gentle, kind, with reverence for your experience. I look forward to hearing from you and wish you well until then.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
