I am an Oxford-based counsellor and psychotherapist offering both short and long-term counselling and psychotherapy to adults. I specialise in anxiety, depression, loss, grief, eating disorder, self-esteem related and relationship issues.
Psychotherapy gives you support to navigate through life’s challenges with greater ease. It restores our ability to make empowering choices and regain control over our feelings, actions and ultimately our life.
I practice relational psychotherapy, meaning that with this approach we address not only struggles of the inner self but also how we relate to our immediate environment, family, friends, colleagues and the society we interact with regularly. Our ability to build and maintain healthy and satisfying relationships with those around us and ourselves is critical in our emotional health and happiness.
An aspect of my practice is what is called solution-focused therapy, with the objective of finding practical solutions for reducing tension, managing emotions and increasing well-being. The process involves working together to identify your strength, the resources you already possess and finding small, manageable steps that will support you to move toward your preferred outcome and desire.
In our therapy sessions, we will explore your emotional triggers, your behavioural patterns, how you form and maintain relationships, so that you can become aware of any limiting beliefs and habits that might be holding you back from living a fulfilling and satisfying life. The therapy will offer you opportunity to reconnect with important aspects of yourself that you might have lost touch with, which could support you in finding your way back to psychical and psychological wellbeing. My desire is to help you become stronger, empower you with tools, to better face your challenges, guiding you in the process of healing and self-acceptance.
There is an opportunity to work creatively if that’s something that interests you bringing in elements of arts, poetry, movement and mindfulness practices.
How can counselling or psychotherapy help you?
There can be times in our lives when the challenges we experience can feel overwhelming; we can feel lost, lonely, discouraged, hopeless and stuck, unable to move forward on our own. We sometimes react by withdrawing, isolating ourselves. Our relationships might suffer, and we can become unhappy or even angry with ourselves and life in general. We can lose sight of who we are, what our strength are, and we can end up simply existing, not being able to find the way out. This is the time when therapy can help you: to regain your joy in life by addressing, expressing and releasing the limiting emotions and behavioural patterns, by finding meaning of past events, by focusing on finding your next step forward. You will start feeling in control of your life again.
I trust that by increasing your awareness of your thoughts, feelings, belief systems, the fixed ways of behaviours or reacting to situations, you will be able to make new, satisfying choices of engaging with the world. My intention is to be there for you and with you every step of the way, offering you a warm, empowering experience and a safe space for authentic self-exploration.
