People come to therapy for many reasons, and it is not uncommon for people to not know exactly why. A yearning to understand yourself and your experience of life can be a very good place to start. I work at depth, which means that, together, we seek to understand the underlying causes of emotional pain and distress. My approach is very much to work alongside my client, exploring together at each client's pace. If a more direct approach is needed at times, then I will work accordingly. People often ask how long therapy takes and my reply is that you should think in excess of six months, but not necessarily years. I see people once a week in-person in central London, online, or a combination of the two.
I am a clinical psychotherapist with over fifteen years of experience working in private practice. I work with individuals experiencing mental health issues such as depression, trauma, burnout, loss of sense of self, as well as with people working through difficult life changes, gender identity, and sexuality related issues. I specialise in psychodynamic psychotherapy, which means that I help you understand the underlying reasons behind emotional distress, which can often stem from past experiences buried in our unconscious. I also have a specialist interest in the roles of creativity and nature in mental health and wellbeing. I am clinically trained and hold a PhD in psychology.
