I offer a supportive, non-judgmental space where we can think openly and honestly about different aspects of you and your life. I am a psychodynamic therpaist, and so am interested in what sense you make of the life you have lived until now, and how this might feed into the particular challenges you face.
Whilst I have, and do work in and for large organizations in this capacity, meeting outside of these carries with it a freedom to work without confinement, and allows in you greater room for meaning making and personal choice. I offer a way of working in which I acknowledge the innate power in you, and we think together from there as to the nature of your difficulty, how you might like to proceed, and should there be any ideas around which might hinder this process.
I have worked across a wide range of clinical settings NHS, private health, universities, forensics, secondary education, and have done so with individuals, groups and organizations. I trained at Oxford University inlvolving 4 years postgraduate clinical study. I enjoy holding a generalist adult practice, but do also hold a particular specialist focus on anxiety, depression, personality disorders and issues around sexuality.
Many of my clients and patients, both in services and in private practice, have explored more cognitive methods of managing their symptoms prior to working with me, and the therapy that I offer is positioned to meet and help the ways in which problems risk repeating and the emotions around this.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
