My Approach

Hello there. If you're feeling overwhelmed and want to feel better - maybe I can help. I'm an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist with a caring and authentic attitude.

About Me

If you and I work together, we will explore what you've inherited from your early life experiences and relationships, and look at how these impact your current relationships, behaviours and feelings. This is with a view to you feeling better understood and better understanding yourself.

What I'd like you to know, other than that I hold the appropriate professional qualifications and insurance to practice, and that I take my role very seriously indeed, is that therapy with me is deep work that delivers lasting change. It can be for a set period of time (I offer 12 session blocks) or open ended (running weekly for as long as feels right to you). It is a treatment that can help you better handle the emotional and psychological distress you are facing.

In terms of practicalities - you and I will see each other weekly. I work from my consulting rooms in King's Cross, which is where I'd like to see you either in person or online each week. It is my experience that working together in the room is much more effective than working online or on the phone - but I do have some capacity to work with you online/on the phone if coming into my consulting rooms is not possible. Each session runs for 50 minutes and your therapy is scheduled at the same time and day each week. My standard fee is £75 per session.

So. If you want to invest in yourself and in feeling better - let's talk.

When you feel ready, please just give me a call or email me so we can arrange to have a quick chat about how I might be able to help you. I’ll do my best to get back to you as quickly as I can. Once we’ve spoken (this call back is free of charge and usually runs for about 15 minutes), we can meet for an initial consultation and then start to work together if that feels right for both of us.

As with all my communications with you, these initial conversations will remain confidential, so should I get your voicemail service when I call you, I'll just leave a very simple message with my name, stating that I'm returning your call.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, which means I understand how abuse and other types of trauma play out in people's lives. Abuse casts a long shadow in people's lives and requires careful therapeutic handling. If this is relevant to you, I can assure you of my most considered and compassionate attention as we work together. In particular, I have a lot of experience working with people who grew up marked by early childhood abuse and trauma.
Anxiety and depression are a damaging feature of many people's lives. If this is your experience and you need help managing either or both of these conditions, I'm ready to sit down and work with you. I have many years of experience working therapeutically with both anxiety and depression (when one is experienced, the other often is too) and I understand the powerfully debilitating affect both conditions can have.
Work is, for many people, a huge part of life. Whether you're facing unmanageable work stress, have been made redundant, find yourself in difficult relationships at work, or are just having a hard time in your working life - work can have a huge impact on your mental health. Over the years I have done a lot of work (pardon the pun) on clients' relationship to work and would welcome the chance to explore these issues if they are a cause of distress for you.
Whatever your mental health issues are, I can help you. Give me a call to find out how.
I understand the impact and toll that racism can have on our sense of self and emotional wellbeing. My Master's dissertation is focused on the effects of race in psychotherapy, and informs my practice in a very real-world way. If you choose to work with me I can promise you this - whatever our differences (racial or otherwise), they will not be whitewashed from the therapy. Talking about race and racism is part of the work we will do in therapy, because it is part of all of our external and internal worlds.
