About Me

I work with sexual abuse, loss, depression, anxiety, sexuality, eating disorders, dissociation, relationship difficulties, gender difficulties and disability. I use a psychoanalytic approach considering the therapeutic encounter as an essential factor in assisting to bring about change, understanding, insight and acceptance. I have a special interest in disability, complex trauma, dissociation and early childhood development. I work with young people and adults.

Psychotherapy is a relational process designed to help individuals experience new ways of engaging with themselves, the people in their lives and the world around them. Through the therapeutic relationship the person can begin to understand themselves in a new way. It explores the ‘here and now’ but puts particularly importance on past events (which are seen to be an important contribution to the person’s development). Treatment can help a person deal better with their difficulties. Insight and awareness gained as a result of this process can help the individual engage in life with greater freedom, autonomy and awareness.

Psychotherapy is a treatment that offers a space for a person to think about themselves and the world they live in. It invites curiousity and interest into the inner world of the person, paying particular attention to the person’s feelings, emotions and thoughts. It is non directive and provides a creative space in which to address difficulties that have previously felt insurmountable.

Psychotherapy occurs at least weekly, for 50 minutes and is usually a long-term commitment.
Short term consultations are also available.

I also offer individual and group supervision.

I teach at the Tavistock Centre where I am also a tutor.
