As a Family Therapist (Systemic Psychotherapist) I am dedicated to creating safe reflective spaces where individuals and families can explore their relationships with themselves, others and the world around them.
I deeply consider and care about the unique histories and backgrounds of each person I work with.
I foster understanding of how lived experiences can influence thoughts, feelings and behaviour patterns. Taking into account past experiences, the present context and future hopes and dreams, I work carefully to consider and agree joint aims and goals for therapy.
I endeavour to adapt my approach to suit the needs of the individuals and families that I support.
I seek to work with each individual, family and group with genuine curiosity, sensitivity and care for the things that matter to them.
I am able to adapt my practice so that sessions have space to include and respect the interests of families and individuals that I see. For example, using music, books, art, dance, photography, film, nature, animals, food, sport, play, movement, drawing,
I enjoy cocreating safe and fun environments where people feel comfortable and safe enough to learn together. I truly believe that we are more able to learn and take on new information and ways of behaving when we feel calm and comfortable, this is my priority in sessions. I support families to explore what helps them to find calm and peace, this could mean experimenting with relaxation, body movement, creativity, music, meditation, play and whatever helps regulate individually or co-regulate if needed.
I work alongside you as individuals and help you to create bespoke plans for positive change.
I have worked with young people and families for over 20 years, initially as a youth worker and as a bereavement specialist before qualifying as Family Therapist in 2018.
I have a depth of experience in working with schools, youth offending teams, youth workers, teachers, clinical and educational psychologists, psychiatrists, drama therapists, art therapists, play therapists, drugs and alcohol organisations across the United Kingdom.
I have my own private practice where I meet individuals and families in their own home, in nature and online. (There is an additional cost for travel time)
I currently also work part time for the NHS in a Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service team. Prior to this role I worked in central Bristol as a Lead Family Therapist running a Family Therapy Clinic and Eating Disorders Clinic.
I previously worked for childhood bereavement charity Winston's Wish for 7 years - working with families nationally that had experienced the death of a family member however they had died. I also specialised in supporting families bereaved through homicide, suicide, and deaths within the armed forces community.
I have experience in offering systemic supervision and consultation to colleagues and systemic trainees.
I have delivered training nationally in my previous roles and in private practice I am able to deliver bespoke training to schools, organisations and sports teams.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
