Getting professional support can feel very daunting, and it is important to make someone seeking therapy as comfortable as possible. After you contact me by email or phone we will have an initial phone call that will last around 20 minutes, this is free and if you want to go ahead with counselling, we will set up an initial session which will last 50 minutes. There is no obligation to continue therapy with me if you think that it will not work for you. After the initial session if you decide to continue, we will choose an available slot that suits both of us and we will meet once a week for 50 minutes for individuals and 60 minutes (or longer) for couples. The number of sessions will depend on you, you can stop therapy whenever suits you.
Everything discussed in therapy is confidential and you will be able to tell me anything. I have regular supervision, which is an ethical requirement, and this process is also confidential and is bound by professional codes of conduct and ethics.
I spent more than twenty years in industry and academia working as a scientist. I have also lived in different countries and I understand cultural differences and issues related to identity and belonging. I hold an MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, and Post-Graduate Diplomas in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Metanoia Institute, and I am a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) and a Provisional Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (PTSTA).
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
