Psychotherapy focuses on deep processes which affect how we think, feel and behave. Gestalt is a holistic approach, where each individual is seen as a unique combination of mind, body, emotions and spirit. As a humanistic therapy, Gestalt views every individual as the best expert on themselves, and as having the capacity to live a satisfying and creative life in rewarding contact with others. Sometimes this natural state gets interrupted and we become stuck in fixed patterns. As a Gestalt practitioner, my aim is to bring these patterns into awareness by focusing on the here-and-now, and paying attention to emotions, thoughts, bodily signs, sensations, breathing, and memories of the past as they arise in the present.
I am a Gestalt Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Trainer with over 15 years experience. I have a deep interest in psychotherapy as an effective means of helping us face the challenges that sometimes arise in life. I find it very rewarding to help my clients uncover the supports that enable them to make the changes they wish for. My intention is to create an environment where you can express yourself and know that you will be heard and not judged. There is very little that shocks me. My clients generally tell me I'm warm and empathic, a good listener, and that I help them deal with challenging issues.
My work is trauma informed, and suitable for complex issues.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
