Hello, and thank you for taking time to look at this web page. My name is David Peebles. I have had over thirty years of listening to people from all sorts of backgrounds who are struggling with all sorts of issues.
Talking to somebody in a safe and confidential space at a regular time is a way in which whatever issues that have brought you to this website can be brought into the open and gently faced and thought about. Together we can build a relationship of trust and openness in which difficult and painful feelings and experiences can be explored.
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist which means I take seriously the ways in which past relationships, often family related, continue to affect patterns of behaviour and what we feel inside, which often go unrecognised by those around us and feel bewildering to ourselves.
This means your therapy will not be a quick fix, but will be open-ended in time so that change at a deep level maybe possible.
I understand that the thought of this can be a mixture of hope and anxiety. Talking about yourself in such a very vulnerable and sensitive way is something perhaps you both desire and yet fear.
Our sessions together will take all that into account and will proceed in a way which is most helpful.
Absolutely key to this is the relationship between us. It is important that there is a good fit and we can have a sense of this in the first meeting.
Please do drop me an email and I will get back within 24 hours and we can take things form there.
I am a qualified psychotherapist and registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the British Psychoanalytical Council (BPC) and the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FCP). I had a five year training at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF), one of Britain's leading training institutions for therapy.
I have a Certificate in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice from WPF and a Post-graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy also from WPF and validated by the University of Roehampton.
I have degrees in Theology and Philosophy from the Universities of Bristol, Manchester and Durham and also a doctorate from King's College London.
I follow the ethical and confidentiality guidelines of the professional bodies of which I am a member. I have an enhanced DBS certificate.
