My main qualifications are in Transactional Analysis. One to one and group work.
I often use creative work like painting or clay modelling which is sometimes a way to access feelings and thoughts when words don’t work.
I'm retired from a 27 year career working with mainly NHS funded clients who had serious mental health issues. So I've had lots of valuable experience and now offer confidential counselling and psychotherapy to private, mostly self referred people. Working with the kinds of problems that can and do arise in anyone's life. For instance bereavement or relationship problems can feel overwhelming and there is no need to be embarrassed about asking for help.
Some clients are mainly interested in their own personal growth and I'm more than happy to work with that as a goal. I believe learning and growing is a lifelong project. None of us are fully evolved even in old age.
I have a special interest in issues arising from anxiety and stress of all kinds at work and contribute to Employee Assistance Programs sponsored by employers.
Mindfulness meditation is something I use for myself and also teach.
I was a trainer and supervisor of student therapists for many years. Now I prefer to focus on the work I've always found most satisfying, which is about problem solving and personal growth.
Clients find me a gentle and sympathetic listener and I see my role as a therapist/counsellor to help and guide towards psychological health and clarity of thinking.
I work from a comfortable and private therapy room in my home.
I understand that it can be hard to take the first step in asking for help, especially when feeling vulnerable and confused. It's my job to make it as comfortable and straightforward as possible.
