My Approach

Welcome to the world of counselling, you have taken the first courageous step: contemplating a journey of self-discovery, healing and growth. You may have a specific issue that is troubling you whether it be work issues, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or one of life’s crises. Alternatively, you may wish to work towards a more fulfilling and harmonious life; there are as many ways of experiencing ourselves as there are people on the planet.

As with all my clients, you are a unique individual, we would jointly embark on the therapeutic journey, combining a range of counselling approaches to gain clarity and understanding. We may also draw inspiration from art, music and popular culture; ultimately those approaches that you feel most comfortable with and that best suit your needs.

You don't have to face life's challenges alone. I'm here to offer a safe, confidential and supportive space for you. Let's navigate your journey together, with understanding and compassion. Let’s arrange an introductory meeting to explore the best ways of working together and help you decide whether you’d like to progress counselling with me.

About Me

I work with clients who may be struggling with depression, anxiety or trauma related to their relationships or family. I also work with creative professionals and students who may have a creative block or performance anxiety. During our initial sessions, we will explore what is holding you back and try to bring clarity to your situation to help you live a more fulfilling life.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Navigating gender identity and expression can be complex. I strive to make my office a safe, affirming environment for all gender journeys. I work with people of all gender identities and orientations, including transgender, non-binary, genderfluid, and questioning individuals. My goal is to create a space free of assumptions where you can explore your gender identity and presentation at your own pace. I utilise an informed consent model, meaning your gender is yours to determine. Together we can unpack societal messages, minimise dysphoria, and help you feel empowered owning your gender. With compassion and understanding, we can identify goals, build resilience, and take steps to live as your true, authentic self.
Our relationships with our parents or parental figures can be complicated, bringing up intense emotions like anger, grief, and longing. Healing these relationships often requires processing complex feelings, setting boundaries, and managing expectations. I provide a safe space to openly discuss your unique situation without judgment. With empathy and insight, I can help you identify unhelpful patterns, understand your parents' motivations, and articulate your needs to repair ruptures. My goal is to help you find clarity and strategies for relating to parents in a healthier way. We may unpack past wounds, role reverse to see other perspectives, or practice having difficult conversations. While the work may feel challenging at times, you can develop increased self-compassion and skills to engage parents in a way that honors both their humanity and yours. With time and effort, it is possible to move forward and build the satisfying relationship you seek. I am here to support you on this rewarding journey.
Relationships add meaning to our lives, yet can also lead to confusion, hurt, and constant compromise. I provide a space to unpack relational struggles with partners, friends, co-workers, or family. My non-judgmental presence allows you to open up about relationship patterns, betrayal, loss, communication breakdowns, and other complex dynamics. We'll identify unproductive habits, honour each person's needs, and find realistic ways to improve connections. While I cannot change others, I can equip you with insight and skills to communicate your authentic self, set boundaries, and engage in healthier ways. You may feel empowered to repair rifts, deepen intimacy, decide when to let go, or identify the types of relationships that allow you and others to thrive.
Sexuality is a core part of who we are. Exploring sexuality can bring up vulnerabilities, shame, or questions about identity. I offer a safe, neutral space to unpack any worries related to your sexuality without judgement. My goal is to help you develop a healthy relationship with your sexuality by addressing misconceptions, past traumas, and societal pressures. We can explore your desires, boundaries, and orientation at your own pace and with full confidentiality. My approach is sex-positive, open-minded, and tailored to your specific needs. Whether you are coping with changes in intimacy, seeking to embrace your identity, or aiming to heal past wounds, I can provide a compassionate ear and evidence-based strategies to help you reclaim and enjoy your sexuality.
Trauma can shake us to our core and leave lasting impacts. Healing from trauma requires compassion, patience, and courage. In our work together, I strive to create a judgment-free space where you can process painful memories and emotions at your own pace. I will listen without blame and provide validation for your experiences.
