Sessions are tailored and led by service users. I offer various mediums to facilitate the therapeutic process including: art, puppetry, sand clay, music, body work, writing and poetry. Working collaboratively and relationally is important to me. I work with children from 3 years old, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I take a systemic, trauma informed approach to my work that is underpinned by attachment, object relations, neuroscience and internal family systems. I also enjoy running workshops that enrich relationships and health within families.
I am a counselor and child psychotherapist, and now Trainee supervisor.
I have worked in the public sector with vulnerable children, young people and families for over a decade. I was a foster carer and have lots of experience working in schools, NHS and Social services. I am caring, consistent and non judgmental. I'm an innovative problem solver so I love enriching people's lives through creatively. I'm also a proud mum of three so a lot of my passion projects involve creating safe and uplifting communities for mothers.
As a mental health professional, I have worked with adults, children, parents and carers to promote better outcomes for families. The majority of my work has been with looked after and adopted children and has often involved working with complex developmental trauma.
I am passionate about working with families as well as the networks supporting them. It's my deepest desire that relief would be found by all those who engage with ShawSpark Psychotherapy services.
