With a passion for helping children, young people and adults make sense of things and increase their personal resilience, I aim to empower clients so that they can shift feelings, thoughts and behaviours that have become hard to manage and understand.
The core aim of psychotherapy is to help young and adult clients feel more integrated and, as a result, feel more secure and better about themselves, their abilities and relationships.
My assessment and therapeutic work with children and adolescents involves identifying needs and difficulties rather than making mental health or neurodevelopmental diagnoses. I then suggest therapeutic and support plans (which may include parents/carers sessions to support reflective thinking and understanding around child development and brain neurobiology), or I signpost to more appropriate services if needed.
I also work with adult clients to support them with matters around attachment and relationship concerns; shame; loss and bereavement; BAME and POC individuals and the impact of racism; repetitive intrusive thoughts; anxiety; discrimination; low mood and depression; sexuality; life changes; self-esteem; and childhood trauma.
My specialist child and adolescent psychotherapy MA included Adult Psychotherapy training and placements. The focus on developmental training and knowledge and the access to Adult Psychotherapy placements in my studies particularly enable me to effectively support adults who are experiencing the negative effects of childhood difficulties or trauma, offering them a containing, confidential and non-judgemental space where they can process and make sense of things. In this environment clients can explore their early experiences and take a view on how these might have impacted on their development and personality, their physical health, and their relational, emotional and thinking patterns.
In order to adapt the support I give to my clients, as an integrative psychotherapist I use a variety of psychotherapy theories/approaches and creative interventions to match developmental and individual needs. With highly diverse national and international personal and professional experiences I am able to work in an adaptable, open-minded and cross-cultural manner.
If you would like to talk with me to discuss concerns and needs about yourself or about a young person or child in your care, you can contact me via a phone call or email. I know that it can be hard to make this first call so if I am unable to pick up your call, you can text me or leave a voice message with your name and contact details, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
