I have over 30 years experience of working with individuals and couples, 13 of which in the NHS. I now work solely in private practice.
My approach is integrative and collaborative, and I work with all issues. Whether it is depression, panic attacks, relationship problems, a weight issue, phobias or low self esteem, I see it all as part of a bigger picture and will work with it as such.
The work is an exploration of what is preventing the client from being empowered to be the person they are meant to be, and finding options to free themselves from those shackles.
When appropriate and with mutual agreement, I use hypnosis as an adjunct to therapy. Hypnosis is not a magic bullet but helps to understand deeper sometimes unrecognised emotional issues.
My website (http://www.claudianielsen.co.uk) has more information on who I am and how I work, fees and other details.
My fundamental interest is the bigger picture of what it means to be a human being. Within this picture, each person is an individual on their own journey through life. Difficult challenges are often alarm bells that need to be understood for changes to take place. I have over 30 years experience as a psychotherapist, am a mother and grandmother and bring those experiences into my awareness in the work.
My academic qualifications include an MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling (Regents University), an MA in The Study of Mysticism and Religious Experience (Kent University) and a PhD (University of Chester) in which I researched the views of psychotherapists of post-mortem consciousness and the impact on the work with clients. I also have a Post Grad Diploma in Applied Hypnosis (UCL).
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
