My Approach

Hello and welcome. I’m an experienced psychotherapist and humanistic counsellor, working with clients privately both online and in person.
My approach offers a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental place for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and experiences. I work from where you are, developing a supportive relationship where you feel accepted. I am committed to the quality of our relationship, and I believe that what happens between us offers the potential for healing and change.

In my experience, the therapeutic process can bring about insight and understanding, along with greater self-awareness and emotional growth. This, in turn, leads to more choices, which may help us achieve a greater sense of balance and fulfilment in our lives. Working in relationship offers you the opportunity to become aware of patterns in your life, and the ways in which you may be interrupting its flow. It also offers a greater understanding and strengthening of your relationship with yourself, creating the potential for healing and change.

I use an integrative approach which is trauma informed, which means I have an extensive range of theory and practice to draw on. This supports my intention to create a way of working which is tailored to you.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

All couples can experience challenges in their relationship. I am aware that when a relationship encounters problems, talking at home isn’t always enough. Working together with both partners, we explore how you communicate as a couple and as individuals. My focus is on creating a supportive environment so we can work through your relationship challenges and difficulties to increase awareness, mutual understanding and choices. If you have children, couples counselling may nurture more fruitful parenting and co-parenting. Couples come to counselling with various questions about their relationship and its future. Working in a safe, neutral, empathic environment I support authentic communication, deepening understanding of each other. I am interested in what you bring from your past in the ways that you relate to each other in the present. We will work together to look at what's behind patterns of behaviour and communication with the hope of reaching the most appropriate outcome for you both.
