My Approach

I bring an empathic person-centred approach to my work as an Integrating Arts Psychotherapist, holding each clients lived experience central to the work. My versatile, client led
approach aids connection while also underpinning my trauma informed approach. I am particularly passionate about to use of the art in empowering clients in overcoming internalized shame and futile self-criticism.

As an integrative practitioner I work collaboratively with each client to provide a tailor-made approach, allowing us to work at their pace and at emotional depth. The key theoretical models that inform my works Geustalt, Transactional Analysis, and Self Psychology. While considering the impact of past experiences upon current interpersonal and intrapersonal relational patterns, space is always held for hope and personal growth. .

Creative techniques including sand tray, visual arts, bodywork, written word, metaphor, while encouraging clients to integrate their personal interests into the work, such as superheroes or computer games, as a means of facilitating active imagination, a technique offering surprisingly powerful insight for those struggling to express emotions. Regardless of artistic capabilities, we can create a unique approach that feels right for you.

Compassion and empathy are the constants that run through my work, alongside my desire to support others to live their lives more fully, breaking away from internalised limiting beliefs.

About Me

Hi I’m Charlotte. I am a fully registered and accredited adult Integrative Arts Psychotherapists, registered with UKCP, HCPC and BACP. I have clinical experience supporting both groups and individuals within the NHS, and the 3rd sector. Clinical experience includes supporting adults affected by a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, self-harm, menopause, grief, conflicting values regarding sexuality and religion, sexual abuse & co-dependant relationships, alongside physical health issues and neurodiversity. Based in East London, and online, my established privates practise combines spoken therapy, art therapy, somatic work and nature therapy. Having worked with the arts throughout my life, I am passionate about the use of creativity as a gateway to healing.

As a neuro-affirming practitioner, I combine current research, with clinical experience and lived experience, providing a welcoming haven away from social stigma and assumptions.

I live with curiosity, cultivating meaningful relationships with others and the natural world as I seek to live life more fully. I am honoured to work in a field where I support others do the same, stepping away from past experiences, and limiting beliefs.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Empowering those who identify as neurodivergent is a personal passion, being neurodivergent myself (ADHD | AuDHD | Dyslexia). The intersection between trauma, neurodiversity, and lived experience is held central to my work, while also celebrating the complexity of neurodivergent minds. Art making and bodywork provides fertile ground from which strengths, as well as challenges, can emerge and be tended to.
I support neurodivergent individuals to understand them selves more fully, cultivating the self compassion required to live life more fully and to thrive.
I have a history for supporting survivors of CSA, offering a sensitive, trauma informed approach. I welcome complex presentations, understanding that the pain of surviving such atrocities often culminates in mental health difficulties, and, or physical illness.
