Psychodynamic psychotherapy is an exploratory therapy. This means taking time in therapy to explore and reflect on your feelings and past experiences, to help make sense of the present. We all carry within us an internal landscape made up of people, places and experiences which help shape who we are and how we relate to others. Psychodynamic in Nature therapy offers a way of exploring this interior world outdoors in nature, allowing the external landscape to reflect and illuminate our past and present relationships with self, other and place.
Psychodynamic therapy is concerned with;
• the influence of past experiences on our present lives
• the power of unconscious processes
• the recurrence or repetition of patterns in relationships
• defences or the strategies we use to survive
• the connection between mind and body
I am a UKCP Registered Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with over 20 years’ experience gained in private practice, NHS Adult Mental Health services, sixth form and university counselling, employee assistance and staff counselling. My experience also includes teaching counselling students, supervising therapists and working with groups.
Currently, I see people online via Zoom and in person at my home in Forest Green near Dorking, Surrey. This is a peaceful, rural setting, accessible by car from as far afield as Guildford, Leatherhead, Reigate or Horsham, via the A25, A29 and A24.
During 2024 I am launching my Psychodynamic in Nature practice. This is a form of Outdoor or Eco-Psychotherapy in which therapist and client walk together in a natural setting, If you are interested in Outdoor Therapy, please contact me.
