My Approach

The purpose of meeting is not to take sides, blame anyone, or provide simple answers. It is rather, an opportunity to attend to relationships by sharing experience, building on strengths and exploring a way forward that works better for the relationships involved. This is done with respect for people’s different beliefs, ethnicities, Cultures, sexualities and life experiences.

About Me

Hello, I am a family therapist and therapist supervisor, trained to work with individuals, couples and families. In addition I am EFCT (Emotion Focussed Couple Therapy) trained.
When significant stress arises it can have an adverse impact on our identity and relationships. It can cause distress, uncertainty and dilemmas. Communication can be difficult, making decisions and building trust challenging. It is at these vulnerable times that a family therapist can offer a safe, non judgmental, supportive space to think things through and rebuild meaningful connections. I offer a relationship based therapy that helps people understand themselves better as well as the people they care about.
In my 34 years of work experience I have met people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances seeking support on a variety of issues including: depression / anxiety / relationship conflict / couple or family issues / parenting support / neuro-diversity issues ( ADHD / ASD ) / trauma / attachment difficulties / significant loss / grief.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I work with strengthing bonds and intimacy, conflict issues, couples considering separation, couple's struggling to stay together, changing roles and responsibilites, managing life stages and health issues within the partnership
I can see small family groups suitable for online working. I am interested in strengthing family bonds and connection, addressing conflict, boundary issues, emotional dysregulation and different coping styles such as resistence / withdrawing, pursuing / clinging

I view behaviour as relational, either with our ourselves or others and if we attend to our relationhips this can enhance our sense of understanding, confidence and agency in life.
I believe in starting where poeple are at in life, rather than where you want them to be. Sometimes this can mean needing to address stress in the body, as well as the mind. Finding ways to help poeple feel more stable and grounded in themselves, before venturing into more challenging terrotory of stress within relationships.
