Therapy works best, according to research, when it's grounded in a relationship where the client feels able to talk about absolutely anything; where the most painful and shameful experiences, beliefs and feelings can be shared and explored with empathy and compassion.
My approach, at base compassionate and kind, is integrative and relational. It is primarily grounded in gestalt therapy, a humanistic therapy, and informed by psychodynamic theory and buddhist practices. We will explore the habitual ways that your mind can be divided against itself so that you can expand your self-awareness and self-acceptance. With this expansion of self-understanding comes greater adaptability and sense of capacity, along with more choice in the ways you respond relationally to other people and aspects of your life.
I offer both open-ended and time-limited therapy with adults (+18) in my private practice. I work in person in Eastbourne and also remotely through online and over the phone. I have worked for Sussex Community Counselling, Cruse and a local 'Survivors of Suicide' service.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
