My Approach

Therapy works best, according to research, when it's grounded in a relationship where the client feels able to talk about absolutely anything; where the most painful and shameful experiences, beliefs and feelings can be shared and explored with empathy and compassion.

My approach, at base compassionate and kind, is integrative and relational. It is primarily grounded in gestalt therapy, a humanistic therapy, and informed by psychodynamic theory and buddhist practices. We will explore the habitual ways that your mind can be divided against itself so that you can expand your self-awareness and self-acceptance. With this expansion of self-understanding comes greater adaptability and sense of capacity, along with more choice in the ways you respond relationally to other people and aspects of your life.

About Me

I offer both open-ended and time-limited therapy with adults (+18) in my private practice. I work in person in Eastbourne and also remotely through online and over the phone. I have worked for Sussex Community Counselling, Cruse and a local 'Survivors of Suicide' service.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have work with many individuals who have been diagnosed or are self-diagnosed with autism and ADHD. Living with neurodivergence causes additional, often hidden, challenges and struggles that can lead to psychological and emotional difficulties. I will work with the individual to adapt the therapy to provide the best support and help for their unique neurodivergent profile.
I am trained and certified in EMDR therapy will integrate this into your psychotherapy if it will be beneficial to you. While it is a well-known and evidence-based therapy for trauma, it has also proven to be effective in working with a wide range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, OCD and bereavement amongst others.
Trauma is at the root of many psychological and emotional struggles. It can occur as the result of single or cummulative series of terrifying events, either experienced or witnessed. It can also occur in any situation where an individual is psychically overwhelmed. I am experienced in grounding, resourcing, working with dissociation and integration of trauma and approaching trauma relationally with gestalt therapy as well as with EMDR therapy.
