Since 2007, I have used an integrative approach to therapy combining hypnotherapy with cognitive behaviour techniques (CBT) to help clients identify the underlying cause of presenting symptoms and change unwanted patterns of behaviour. I am also trained in Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), an effective treatment for trauma. I am a member of the National Register of Hypnotherapists & Psychotherapists.
I currently provide a Gastroenterology Hypnotherapy service for the NHS helping patients suffering from IBS and other functional gut disorders using Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy. I also previously worked for an NHS community drug team for six years helping those suffering from the effects of drug addiction.
I cover a wide range of stress related problems including depression, anxiety, anger management, PTSD/trauma, OCD, bereavement, eating disorders, IBS, pain management, weight-loss and low self-esteem. I have also completed research projects on both performance anxiety and OCD.
A particular interest is in providing support for couples preparing for fertility treatment, pregnancy, birth and parenthood through the use of hypnosis by helping to restore the natural balance in the body.
I practice out of a picturesque and very comfortable private office in Sutton Coldfield and would be happy to answer any questions that you may have with regard to starting therapy.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
