My Approach

My name is Brigitta (she/her) and I am a UKCP accredited and registered MSc humanistic psychotherapist.

I provide a space for you to feel seen, heard, supported, accepted and validated. I’m interested in you and your unique story and as a therapist I will meet you with empathy and curiosity and without judgement. I will support you in unpacking and processing your struggles and I will work with you to bring deeper understanding and clarity to these challenges.

Therapy can be daunting and overwhelming. Picking a therapist or type of therapy can be confusing at the best of times. I believe we all deserve a safe space in which we can fully be ourselves, talk about the parts of ourselves and experiences we may struggle to reveal and be met with curiosity, compassion, understanding, non-judgement and empathy. In my practise my priority is to provide this space for you, supporting you and your growth as we unpack, process and bring clarity into your life.

My practice is humanistic and relational; I call on a number of different approaches and techniques to support you in a way that is unique to your needs, putting emphasis on your safety and autonomy.

I am dedicated to an anti-oppressive, intersectional practice, welcoming and tending to all parts of your identity and lived experience.

I have worked with a range of presenting challenges, including relationship/relational struggles, attachment difficulties, trauma, identity, sexuality, sex, self-esteem, self-image, disordered eating, depression and anxiety.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Sometimes we feel lost and disconnected to ourselves, sometimes we don't really have a strong sense of who we are in our unique authenticity and sometimes we change and with this everything around us no longer aligns. Our sense of self, within our internal world as well as external is paramount to our sense of fulfilment and happiness. In therapy we will work towards sinking into your authenticity and coming home to yourself, exploring, finding and celebrating your uniqueness.
I believe that we are born, shaped, wounded and healed in relationship, therefore relationship is the crucible for change. Within my practise I take on relational approach. Relational therapy puts emphasis on the importance of relationships and their influence on an individual's well-being. This includes your relationship to yourself, others, your environment, your experiences and the client-therapist relationship. Whether you're struggling with a romantic or platonic relationship, we can explore together your challenges and work towards deeper connection and authenticity in all of your relationships.
Whether you feel certain and absolute about your sexuality or it feels a little blurry, we can explore this together. Sometimes we've had conditional messages from society and family around sexuality and what this 'should' look like, which blocks us from sinking into our authentic self. In reality sexuality is personal, nuanced, changeable and different for everyone and it is an intrinsic part of our identity. I am dedicated to a practise which welcomes and celebrates diversity and difference, creating a safe space in which we can explore your unique wants, desires and struggles.
More and more, stress is a part of our world and daily lived experience, sometimes everything feels out of our control and overwhelming. Let's explore what may be exacerbating this and work towards more balance and equilibrium in your life.
Whether you've been through a traumatic experience recently or something from your childhood, we will work towards exploring and processing your experiences and meaning-making together, always ensuring you feel safe, held and contained. When working with trauma I will pace the work to ensure we work in a way that is impactful, but also regulated and safe, as well as tailoring the process to you and the place you're in emotionally and physically.
