Attachment Informed EMDR, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Group Therapy
I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Europe Accredited EMDR Practitioner and specialise in running intensive residential EMDR for a wide range of issues.
I have several years experience working with trauma, CPTSD, dissociative disorders (including DID), body dysmorphic disorder, chronic pain, including fibromyalgia and ME, as well as other anxiety related issues and depression. I work with adults individually and also offer group therapy. The benefit of working intensively using EMDR is that of achieving rapid progress in a short period of time, as well as achieving the desired breakthrough that is often difficult to achieve with once weekly hourly sessions.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy involves understand the way childhood events and family dynamics may have influenced thoughts and behaviour, relationships and choices. Understanding how the past effects the present, and beginning to recognise the all too familiar patterns, means being better better equipped to make healthier choices. Learning how to respond to negative and critical thoughts from a more compassionate perspective will help to make lasting change a real possibility.
I originally worked in senior NHS healthcare management before training as a psychotherapist. These days I am Clinical Director of the mental health charity Still the Hunger, where we offer individual and group therapy, including running a free monthly support group for BDD. Please see our website www.stillthehunger.co.uk for more information, and www.hannahsproject.co.uk for more information specifically about intensive EMDR.
Most of my weekly appointments take place on-line via Zoom, but I also work in person from Somerset, from where I run the intensive residential EMDR retreats.
I am registered with The Private Practice Register and approved by the following insurance companies: Aviva and AXA PPP Healthcare.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
