My Approach

If you’ve ever felt trapped, possibly disliking who you have become and feeling others blaming you too; we can work together to make sense of how you came to be the person that you are today, and how to make positive changes in your life- to make you more you. Often we feel life’s pressures, or that there is some is just ‘wrong’ but we are unsure of what ‘it’ is, we can resolve the it - to make you more you. I support clients with childhood trauma, complex diagnosis, as well as seemly day to day issues.

In our sessions I tend to work flexibly, drawing on a range of specialisms to relationally explore what makes you, you. We collaborate together at your pace to help you manage what you have been experiencing, and then work together to help you take back control. My passion is to support people to make sense of what they are experiencing, and become free.

About Me

I’m Ben, a psychotherapist based in York, and I support people to resolve life and relationship difficulties. I started Flux in 2019 with three main focuses, therapy, training, and consultancy. I have a huge passion to work therapeutically to make positive sustained changes, whether that is personally, professionally, or within an organisation.

I myself have undertaken a wide and diverse training background and am a member at SWE, UKATA and UKCP. I have a passion for learning and use research and evidence based approaches to support my work.

Outside of work I love playing and listening to music, taking walks with my wife and dog in the countryside, as well as spending as much time as I can with my two year old.

I would encourage you to look at some of the services I offer, and contact me if you have any questions.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Supervision is critical for everyone who works with people, in whatever capacity- it helps is make sense of what might be happening in our work, helps make better decisions, and ultimately helps us learn and grow as practitioners. I have a number of qualifications in supervision from varying fields, and have been directly supervising people within therapeutic fields for six years. Although I draw on a number of modalities to support supervisees in their work, primarily I use TA. I started supervising in my social work roles, and continue to promote safety, and protection in my supervisees work. I tend to use research and theoretical frameworks in supervision to frame our exploration of the work, as well as outlining established practical tools for future work. If you would like further information, or to discuss engaging with structured supervision, please make contact below.
