Special Interests
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
I am experienced in working with people who suffer from anxiety. I use mindfulness techniques that are very supportive for people to regain contact with themselves and manage their states of fear, panic and/or apprehension.
I am fluent in English and Spanish and I often work with members of the Spanish speaking community who prefer to be heard and supported in their native language.
I also work with people who feel that I can relate more easily to the challenges of adjusting to life in a different country and understands the subtleties of navigating cultural codes both at work and in cross- cultural relationships
I have a personal interest in Buddhism and my training as a psychotherapist integrates Buddhist teachings with Western psychological theories and research. This has deepen my interest and my capacity to support people interested in personal and spiritual growth.
I am experienced in working with people who have had very difficult childhoods in terms of physical and emotional abuse or neglect as well as parental addiction and/or terminal illness. I usually work long term with these clients as healing from this kind of early abuse is better done in a gentle and slow manner.
