My Approach

As an Integrative psychotherapist, I believe we all hold the power to heal ourselves but sometimes need a little help along the way. Starting psychotherapy or counselling can be a daunting prospect, but many find it to be a powerful, transformative experience. My approach is tailored towards each individual client's needs. I believe clients are the experts in their own lives and draw on both traditional and modern techniques to ensure we bring long-lasting changes to every aspect of your wellbeing – mental, physical, emotional, relational. My way of working helps clients explore their patterns of relating to others and understand how these affect their own sense of self. Early attachments with our caregivers are critical to how we perceive our surroundings. A strong therapeutic relationship where you feel heard and understood can become a creative blueprint for change.Whether you are struggling under the weight of your past, find yourself at a critical juncture of life or feel your emotions are overwhelming, I offer a supportive and non-judgmental space where I help you reflect and work through the difficulties in your life.

About Me

People's stories have been a lifelong passion for me. Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked as a producer in film and television, spending much of my time supporting screenwriters through the development process. I realised how vital our narratives are to the way we construct meaning and identity, but also how we get lost in our own stories. As a therapist, I see how frequently clients feel trapped by a rigid narrative or identity they have outgrown. I work with them collaboratively to let go of unhelpful stories and return them to their moment-to-moment felt experience leading to more nuanced understanding and meaning in their lives. Many of my clients over the years have been writers, actors, directors and musicians wrestling with their personal or professional identities. I also have a keen interest in systemic and psychosexual therapy, with extensive experience working with trauma, loss, relationship difficulties and issues related to male fertility and sex.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

Anxiety often manifests as a disconnection from the body and from exiled parts of our emotional experience. My approach encourages clients to return to the body using grounding and focusing techniques, building a mindful approach to noticing our experience which counteracts the patterns of anxious thinking we can become frequently stuck with.
We can arrange
I use have a systemic understanding of relationships to show how we are drawn to our partners and project many unmet needs from our own attachment relationships and formative experiences onto them in order to repeat certain scripts from our past and hope for different outcomes. Most of the time, people end up repeating past pain and staying stuck in maladaptive patterns of relating. Building awareness of these patterns and scripts helps create distance from repetition and affords us new creative possibilities of relating that can make al the difference difference in our present day relationships.
I have extensive experience addressing trauma in a number of ways with clients, often using an Internal Family Systems model to help clients understand and harness traumatised parts that are the remnants of painful experiences.
