I approach each client as an individual and work from a place of compassion, kindness and curiosity. I think therapy is a space for the hard stuff, but it's also important to incorporate joy into the work, otherwise, what are we doing this for?
I've tailored my practice to allow for both regular sessions, and flexible schedules for people who travel for work, shift work, or have difficult schedules.
I have experience working with: Anxiety, Anger, Bereavement, Body Issues, Chronic Pain, Complex Trauma, CPTSD, Cultural Identity, Depression, Dissociation, Emotional Abuse, Family Problems, Gender Identity, Guilt, Homelesness, Immigration, Imposter Syndrome, Intrusive Thoughts, LGBTQIA+ Support, Narcissism, Narcissistic Abuse, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Panic Attacks, Personality Disorders, Physical Abuse, Polyamory and Alternative Relationship Styles, Perimenopause, Psychadelic Reprocessing, PTSD, Racism, Relationship Issues, Religious Trauma, Reproductive Issues, Schizophrenia, Self-harm, Sexual Abuse, Sexuality, Stress, Suicidal Thoughts, Trauma, Work-related Struggles, Young People
I am a Brighton and online based humanistic psychotherapist. Not sure what 'humanistic' means? That's ok. Essentially, it means I draw from multiple types of therapy to tailor the therapy experience to your needs. I think that you and I are both imperfect humans working together to gain understanding of your experience. I firmly believe you know yourself best and that my role is not to be the expert, but to help facilitate the exploration of your experience with compassionate curiosity.
I'm also a yoga teacher, a TCTSY Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator, a Pain Reprocessing Therapist, an EMDR therapist and a breathwork facilitator. I believe our minds and bodies are inherently connected, so a session with me may include trying to tune in to what messages your body is trying to send, or an exploration of how your body is holding certain emotions.
I'm originally from the US, but lived in Taiwan and Lebanon before moving to the UK. I use my experience living around the world to approach our work in a culturally sensitive way, and am passionate about decolonizing the mental health industry overall.
I offer sliding scale pricing and take most private insurances, including WPA, Cigna, and Vitality
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
