I work from a trauma and attachment basis, using a humanistic stance whilst integrating developmental, psychodynamic and neuroscentific approaches.
I am integrative psychotherapist with over 20 years experience of working with couples and individuals. Being an integrative psychotherapist means, my philosophical stance is humanistic but I integrate developmental, psychodynamic and neuroscentific approaches.
I believe that different styles are needed to deal with the individuals needs of my client - as one size does not fit all. I work collaboratively with my clients, to explore how they can address their issues, that is authentic to how they are as people, but enables them move forward more effectively in their lives.
I have worked with many complex mental health issues, such as: depression, anxiety, stress and trauma, personality disorders, bereavement and loss, amongst others. Along with being a trained psychodynamic psychotherapist and relationship therapist using Emotional Focussed Therapy for couples. I also have trained in CBT to address specific cognitive distortions, along with EMDR to support my work in trauma. I am invested in my professional training and have recently completed and have been awarded my Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy.
I appreciate that thinking let alone attending therapy takes courage. But taking that first step, could potentially change the rest of your life and lead you to the opportunity of having a more fulfilled one. I offer a 20 min free telephone call, if you would like to explore what to expect and assess whether my approach fits your needs.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
