I am an integrative therapist working in private practise in Bristol and London. I work with adults and offer individual sessions. I currently work online only.
Choosing a therapist can be a difficult process and needs careful consideration. I offer a service which fits your individual needs - a space in mutual relationship where we could work on whatever you bring. I believe it is the quality of the relationship between us that remains the heartbeat of the work we explore. What happens between us is also part of the exploration, as it can shed light on other relationships & experiences, past and present.
I draw upon Psychodynamic, Jungian, Developmental and Transpersonal perspectives and the Attachment Theory model is what underpins my work with you. I take both a relational and analytic approach using these models to look deeply at issues from your past which may be affecting your life in the present. By unpacking and re-framing painful experiences it helps find meaning in our complicated world. This ‘meaning-making’ approach puts soul at the heart of human growth.
I am passionate about my work and I have witnessed client’s capacity to change and evolve through creating a narrative of one's painful experiences which can be deeply effective. My philosophy is that the most important is not always what happens to us, but how we live with and assimilate experience and learn from these events in our lives to make them meaningful.
In addition I have trained in EMDR with EMDR Works in Bristol.
I have lived in three different countries and continents over time and this has given me an understanding of the unique challenges of culture adjustment, cross cultural relationships, displacement, understanding racial assumptions and attacks, identity, depression and anxiety that arise from migration. Living within and between different cultures, I welcome diversity of every kind and appreciate both the bounty and the challenges it brings.
My work and life experience is equally diverse – I have worked in banking, the hotel industry, for many years in pharmaceuticals and running my own business in Interiors. Alongside I have a deep interest and passion for the arts. My work background has given me a long established practice of developing one to one relationships and deal with relationship issues which by default became therapeutic. This and a particular interest in self development and esoteric philosophy formed a central belief in the importance of the health of the whole self – mind, body and soul. I was moved to formalise my interest in talking therapy by studying with and qualifying at the Re.Vision Center in North London as a counsellor.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
