Research shows that one of the most important factors in successful therapy is the quality of the relationship between client and therapist. The Person-Centred Approach is a relational way of working based on the belief that we each have the inner wisdom to find our way forward. This capacity for self-direction can get blocked, buried or diverted, however, as we adapt to the different environments and cultural contexts we find ourselves in. A genuine and accepting therapy relationship can help us reconnect with our inner power by giving space to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Because what matters is how you sense and perceive your experiences, it is important that you are in control of the process. I try not to direct, advise, analyse or offer techniques. My intention is to sensitively listen and explore at the direction, pace and depth you wish to go. I believe that if you feel at ease to be yourself with me you’ll feel safer and more open to discovering, feeling and questioning your experiences. This process can reveal new insights and develop your self-awareness, self-acceptance and trust in yourself to help you live a more meaningful and satisfying life.
It can take courage to talk to someone about your personal thoughts and experiences so it's important to find someone you feel comfortable with. I'd suggest having an introductory session so you can get a feel for how it is to talk to me and ask any questions you might have. It's also an opportunity to discuss what's brought you to therapy and what you might like to get out of it.
I’m also very happy to have a brief conversation before booking an initial session. You can call me on 07543553443 or send me an e-mail (details above). I always reply within 48 hours.
