My Approach

I work with a humanistic and integrative approach, which is grounded in empathy, understanding and a deep respect for each person’s unique journey. My approach to therapy is creative, and trauma informed. It takes account of the interconnection of mind and body. I integrate verbal and non verbal processes, such as movement, art/image making and music to explore thoughts, feelings and memories. This supports an holistic approach, taking account of the whole person in terms of overall health and well-being, in a way that puts you at ease.

I work with psychotherapists in training, offering therapy and clinical supervision, and offer a free initial consultation for you to decide if I am the right therapist to support you in your journey.

About Me

I am committed to creating a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their emotional and psychological challenges. My goal is to help clients build resilience, gain insight, and develop practical skills that they can use to navigate life's difficulties. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I work closely with each client to create a tailored therapeutic plan that meets specific needs and goal. With over a decade of experience, I have worked with a diverse range of clients within the NHS, charitable settings, and now in Private Practice.
I welcome clients from all backgrounds and am committed to providing an inclusive and non-judgemental space for all.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have extensive experience in working with people with disabilities, helping to navigate towards greater autonomy and self awareness. I am adept at working with people who have autism, functional neurological disorder, cognitive disabilities, restricted mobility and/or wheelchair users in ways that bring a greater sense of self agency. I have a deep understanding of supporting clients to overcome the oppression of ableism and to develop greater resilience.
I have a wealth of experience in working with individuals who are gender expansive. I work in a person centred way with individuals with diverse gender identity who have experienced marginalisation or oppression. I am an active ally in the trans community and have a unique insight into the issues facing those who feel an incongruence with sex assigned at birth. I work from an affirmative, humanistic and integrative perspective, and am committed to non-oppressive practice.
I work with those who may have received a diagnosis of psychotic illness, personality disorder and dissociative disorder, but I work with the person not the pathology. Working with a trauma informed approach, I help clients to not only manage symptoms of mental health spectrum disorders but to work towards health, healing, insight and self awareness. Your goal may be to achieve an integrated self, but I also hold the space for those that wish to work toward non disordered plurality. I meet clients where they are in the moment, the place where my humanity meets your and will always treat you with dignity and respect.
I am a fully qualified Clinical Supervisor, having trained to PG Diploma level in creative approaches to supervision. I work in a client centred way across modalities with techniques such as use of role, relational and visual experiential exercises designed to encourage you to reflect on your clinical practice in a safe, confidential and supportive environment. I offer online and face to face sessions designed to help you focus on best practice and clinical wisdom. I offer concessions for psychotherapists in training.
I work with a trauma informed approach which gives me a profound understanding of working with clients who have experience complex compound trauma. I work from the somatic or body based perspective incorporating Neuroscience and understanding of how trauma impacts the individual. I use creative and non verbal ways of working that avoid re-traumatising the client during the therapy process. Working in this way can be empowering and helps you towards insight and understanding in overcoming adversity.
