My approach is integrative, as first and foremost I think it is most important of all to listen to what my clients are telling me and to apply my clinical knowledge and experience in your personal context. The foundations of this integrative approach is psychodynamic, which means that I will be thinking with you in terms of your relational and developmental history and the way in which this manifests in your present day experiences on an unconscious and conscious level.. I think that this appproach is very helpful as it can shed light on the elements which have brought you into therapy in the first place, and provide new means of thinking about them. As I am also trained as an art therapist and in EMDR, I may also suggest that we integrate these approaches into the work if I think it is something that will complement or add to the existing therapeutic work.
I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist, HCPC registered Art therapist and a member of the EMDR association. I have a private practise based in Hackney, East London and online. I have clinical experience working in the NHS and for charities. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I worked in education and international development. I regularly attend training workshops and evaluative meetings with colleagues in order to reflect upon my clinical work.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
