My psychotherapy career: Establishing a career in NHS diabetes care

How can you establish yourself in an NHS setting?

From a medical social worker to a psychotherapist working in the NHS, UKCP member Jackie Fosbury found a new career but remained working in hospitals, helping those in need of mental health support.

In this episode, we speak to Jackie to find out about the diabetes service she now works in and how she found herself drawn to this setting.

‘New psychotherapy positions were being created where the value of the talking cure was seen to be important. I was offered a research post in the NHS to research psychotherapy and subsequently, a psychotherapy position opened up to me and I’ve remained in the NHS more or less ever since.’
