UKCP welcomes a new chair of the EDI-BIIDE* Committee

Dr Zahid Nawaz has been recently appointed as the new lay chair of the EDI-BIIDE* committee.

Zahid brings with him a wealth of experience in EDI across both the public and private sectors and will work with the committee to lead the strategic management of EDI efforts at UKCP.

Commenting on his appointment, Zahid said: 'I am truly honoured to take on this responsibility and will work diligently to demonstrate real EDI leadership. My focus will be on developing a new strategy that ensures equity, diversity and inclusion are fully embedded and aligned with everything we do as an organisation.'

The appointment comes after the previous chair, Kei-Retta Farrell, stepped down from the role in January this year due to other commitments. Since then, vice chair Joanne Hipplewith has served as the acting chair of the committee. She will now be stepping down from the EDI-BIIDE committee to focus on other pursuits. UCKP extends our thanks to Joanne and Kei-Retta for their dedication and contributions to the committee and the organisation's EDI efforts.
