UKCP statement: chair and trustee election

UKCP has received several complaints and concerns raised around the election process for chair and trustee. All complaints that UKCP receives will be reviewed by UKCP’s solicitors, who will advise us if any action is required to protect the integrity of the election. While matters brought to our attention are being monitored, you may not receive individual replies.

UKCP elections are a democratic process and UKCP is committed to ensuring the integrity of the election. We encourage members to exercise their right to vote in these elections.

In response to the open letter of 8 February 2025:

All candidates have fulfilled the eligibility criteria and are able to stand in the election.

Statements, answers to member questions, and recordings of the hustings event are available to UKCP members and were shared before the voting notification email.

With regards to New Psychotherapist:

Articles that were featured in the latest New Psychotherapist magazine, which some have seen as favouring one election candidate, reported on current UKCP policy to inform members. This UKCP policy included the three-year strategy. The strategy was launched at the UKCP conference in November 2024 after consultation with members. All candidates are, of course, free to position themselves in relation to that strategy or any other UKCP policy. Inevitably, material in the magazine and UKCP's website will coalesce more or less with the position of candidates. That does not render the election process unfair.
