My Approach

Initially I trained as an integrative Hypno-psychotherapist, which simply means I trained in more than one approach to psychotherapy, including the use of hypnosis where appropriate. I’m also a mindfulness teacher, qualified to facilitate on Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy courses, and so I have naturally been drawn to mindfulness and compassion based approaches to therapy, in particular, ACT and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). Both of these approaches have a strong and growing evidence base, and form a significant proportion of my psychotherapy work.

I have been approved by Anxiety UK to provide their members with hypnotherapy and CFT for anxiety. Also, over the last nine years I have worked extensively with Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, (if seeking help with IBS therapy, please do obtain an IBS diagnosis from your GP or specialist beforehand).

About Me

Which of life’s challenges, difficulties and pain are you encountering? It’s OK if you’re not even sure what words truly describe your experience, my role as a therapist is to guide you away from struggling and towards flourishing. Most often, my work is grounded in the present, focussed on solutions, and oriented towards the future, however that’s not to say the past should be ignored, it may need to be honoured, processed and integrated into the present before moving forwards.

I have experience in helping people with a wide range of issues, which often involve emotional struggles or behavioural problems. These come with many different labels such as anxiety, depression, addiction, self-criticism, shame, trauma, phobias, relationship problems, and so on. Whilst such labels can be helpful, and demonstrate that such experiences are far from unique, they often paint an incomplete picture; my work is not about the labels, but the experience itself.

Therapy sessions at my private practice in London Bridge have been suspended since the Covid19 pandemic, so I am currently only offering online therapy sessions. Appointment fees are £80.00 (N.b. I always try to accommodate clients who have difficulty in affording my fees; I can offer reduced rates at certain times, please mention your needs when making an appointment).

Please do take a look at my web site, or get in touch by e-mail or phone for further information.

Special Interests

Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.

I have worked with a wide range of anxiety related issues, including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, and many different phobias. This experience also helps me when working with other issues that may be closely connected to anxious thoughts and feelings, such as relationship issues, irritable bowel syndrome, work stress, etc. For the last six years I have been working as an Anxiety UK Approved Therapist providing Hypnotherapy and Compassion Focused Therapy to the charity’s members and partner beneficiaries.
