My work tends to be emotionally and relationally focused. My main model of working is Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and you can read more about this model by visiting the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) on acat.me.uk. Essentially, CAT is an integrated model which means it is part cognitive and part analytic in its approach. It is a collaborative and pragmatic model which can be used to help people with a wide range of difficulties.
As well as being a UKCP accredited CAT Psychotherapist, Trainer and Supervisor, I am also a Chartered Clinical Psychologist working part-time in the NHS in Oxford. I have 20 years experience within the NHS and have predominantly worked with people with severe and enduring difficulties. I have a special interest in relational and emotional difficulties, working with individuals or couples. I am happy to provide digital or face to face therapies and have a private clinic space in Bicester.
Choosing a therapist is an important first relational choice and I offer an initial no-fee meeting to discuss the prospect of therapy, to answer any questions about my way of working and for us to decide together if we might like to embark on therapy together.
I can be contacted via email: dr.viviennehopkins@gmail.com for initial enquiries.
Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience.
